El Parto es Nuestro is a non-profit making association that aims to improve the level of care given to mothers and their babies during pregnancy, birth and post-birth in Spain. The website includes information and articles about birth in Spain.

Dona Llum

Formerly called El part es nostre, Dona Llum offers free support and advice about birth. Their website includes up to date information about birth in Catalunya as well as personal experiences and articles. They have information sessions the first and third Thursday of the month (except during August) from 5pm-7pm at Centre Civic La Magoria, Gran Via 247 (corner with Moianes). Tel. 609 347 457.

Grup Gemma
Gemma is a support/information group for pregnant women and mothers. They have weekly meetings which provide a chance to get together with other mothers and mothers-to-be and during which specific themes regarding pregnancy, childbirth and children are addressed. Although this is not an English-speaking group, a number of English speakers attend the meetings.
Meetings are every Tues from October to June, 11am-1pm.

Marenostrum
Marenostrum is a family health centre, specialising in alternative health and wellbeing. They have two midwives who offer homebirth assistance. For women delivering in a hospital or clinic, Marenostrum also accompanies dilation at home until the woman is ready to go to hospital. The centre also offers antenatal courses and post-natal breastfeeding support. In October 2010 Krishinda Powers, an American, UK-trained midwife joined the team. La Lliga de la Llet

This is the Catalan branch of the international organisation La Leche League. On their website you can find details of the groups that are held around Barcelona. Meetings are generally held once a month and are led by a trained Leche League monitor. Meetings are free and you don't need to be a member to attend.
